Our Story

In 1990, Wayne Sullivan founded Wes-Tec, pioneering the introduction of Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) to New Zealand. Leveraging his expertise in drafting and aluminium systems, he developed a comprehensive cladding project management service. Through innovative factory processes and precise coordination, Wes-Tec quickly became the trusted choice for architects and developers nationwide. In 1995, following this success, Wayne sold Wes-Tec and relocated to Australia with his family.

In 1998, Wayne Sullivan established Symonite, bringing his innovative ACP systems back to New Zealand's construction industry. Responding to strong demand from architects and builders, Symonite quickly became the country's premier provider of aluminium cladding solutions. The company's commitment to exceptional service, craftsmanship, and reliable project delivery cemented its position as an industry leader. After building this successful legacy, Wayne sold Symonite in 2012 to begin his retirement.

In 2017, Wayne and Sean Sullivan established Panelab, bringing a powerful combination of decades of industry expertise and fresh innovation to New Zealand's cladding sector. Sean's hands-on building experience and Wayne's technical mastery created their most successful venture yet, introducing next-generation aluminium cladding systems to the market. Today, Panelab leads the industry in ACP and aluminium facade solutions, setting new standards for quality and efficiency in complex commercial and residential projects across New Zealand.
